Meet the Hybrid Dental doctors
Hybrid Dental of Maine utilizes a team approach that is lead by highly-skilled, experienced, and trained doctors to provide you with the best experience and results. Oral surgeon, Dr. Matthew Jacobsen, and restorative dentist, Dr. Kathryn Buss, have successfully worked together on numerous patient treatment plans with excellent results. Both doctors have extensive training and experience in dental implant placement and immediate loading full arch restorative technique. They have studied and completed training in a variety of full arch restorative techniques including Straumann Pro Arch Solutions®, Straumann Smile in a Box®, All-On-4®, TeethXpress®, and nSequence®.
Dr. Kathryn Buss, DDS
Dr. Kathryn Buss was raised in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science from the University of Central Florida and was awarded her dental degree from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Buss practiced dentistry in Colorado for several years before relocating to Maine and beginning her practice, Portland Smiles in 2015. As a general, family and cosmetic dentist, Dr. Buss is passionate about helping her patients restore, renew and improve their oral health. Dr. Buss also integrates modern technologies and advancements into her practice by continually furthering her education at courses held throughout the country.
Not only is Dr. Buss now surrounded by her large extended family in Maine, she has also been welcomed by the remarkable dental community in the Portland area. Through working with other doctors in local study clubs, she has gained trusted references for her patients for all dental specialties. Dr. Buss and her husband have two young boys, and together they love to enjoy the outdoors in Maine by camping, boating and skiing.
Dr. Matthew Jacobsen,
DMD, MD, FACS
Dr. Jacobsen started his dental experience at the University of Connecticut in 1999 and graduated in 2003 with several honors and distinctions in oral and maxillofacial surgery including the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Award, the Dr. Richard G. Topazian Award in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and the American College of Dentists Award. Following his graduation from UCONN, he was accepted into the combined Harvard University/Massachusetts General Hospital Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program. He completed his internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital in 2003.
Dr. Jacobsen graduated from Harvard Medical School in 2006. He then completed two years of general surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. Finally, he finished his oral and maxillofacial training in 2009 during which time he served as the Chief Resident of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery division at Massachusetts General Hospital and Children’s Hospital in Boston.
